got here at 4:30 go to
bed & sleep until
reveille. special
detail all week, sleep
most of the day write
to Berniece, mother,
& sis go to bed early.
lots of rumors about
our leaving
Tue - May 21, '18
police up all morning
& battallion drill
this afternoon so I
had to go out. wash
clothes. got a letter
from Berniece &
answered it. got a
blister on my
knuckle from
washing clothes.
Mayor Baker was up this
evening from Portland.
Wed - May 22, '18
special detail. nothing
much of interest.
read sleep and eat
mostly. made myself
a barracks box &
painted it. 4 train-
loads of troops went out.
Thu - May 23, '18
still on the same
detail. trying to rain
and has been quite
successful so far. got
nine new men in
the Co. got a letter from
sis & mother. scheudeled
for a hike tomorrow.
Start a letter to B.
Fri - May 24, '18
The whole Co. left at
2 A.M. on a hike to
be gone until Sat....
